April’s Meeting: National WI Campaigns and Tai Chi

Thursday 26th April is the date for this months meeting.

On the bill will be a discussion about which campaigns will be supported by the national Women’s Institute. We’ll decide what campaign we’d like to vote for as a local WI, and our vote will be taken to the AGM to be included in the main campaign ballot. Once the discussion has taken place, Yemi will lead a Tai Chi session. Please wear comfortable clothes. Lastly, as always, there will be some social time, so do bring food and drink to share.

As always we meet at Lambeth Women’s Project, 166a Stockwell Road, London, SW9.

Surrey Federation birthday craftiness

Brixton WI will contribute to the commemorative hanging for the Surrey Federation of WI’s 95th birthday celebrations. Please see The Craft Club page for more information.

Easter Competition

At our next meeting, March 29^th please bring along some Easter cooking for craft e.g. a decorated Easter Egg.  We will ask our visiting speaker to judge the best entry and there will be a prize!

Brixton WI plans for the year ahead

Ok, so flip charts were flipped, brows were furrowed and cake was wolfed down, all in the name of planning!

November’s meeting will be a chance for us all to contribute and plan our future meetings and to firm up our mission statement. It’s your WI and this is your chance to shape future meetings and events. 

What are you good at, what are you interested in, who do you know?

The next meeting will be on Thursday November 25th.

October 2010: Fun with Felt!

Our first workshop!

Thanks to Becca for getting the ball (of felt) rolling. A fantastic evening of felting fun. Never before have so many scouring pads been stabbed by so many women in the name of ‘craft’. Flowers, hearts, ’birds’- you name it, it was felted.

A great start to the Brixton WI, special mention to Sue for the homemade scones (you may have set a precedent). It was a lovely evening and wonderful to see so many of you there.
